If that happened today, as would be clearly expected from Mrs. Odell’s essay, such an officer would never live to see himself as a lieutenant junior grade. Is there anyone today who wouldn’t say that it was far better that future Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitiz was not thrown to the wolves?
